Here was once Hardgate Post Office, as witness the telephone kiosk and post box. New-fangled street furniture is represented by the solar-powered school speed-restriction signs. Together with telegraph poles and the fancy street lights, what else (rhetorically speaking) is needed to make village life bearable these days?
