William Pownall & Sons Ltd, entering into carpet manufacturing in the pioneering days of the industry during the late 1950’s, at Spenbrook Mill producing tufted carpet throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s and household textiles in Manchester. In 1995 a reconstruction and rationalisation program left the company centralised at Spenbrook Mill near Burnley in Lancashire, concentrating on carpet manufacturing. In 2006 Pownall Carpets left its rural mill at the foot of Pendle Hill near Burnley and joined its sister company Ryalux Carpets down the road in Bury and Rochdale, allowing further investment to be made in manufacturing and distribution facilities, thus continuing Pownall's tradition of offering high quality value carpets.
