Newport: looking down Stow Hill

Going towards the city centre, Stow Hill has passed the cathedral and turned northward where it descends steeply, almost coinciding with the gridline at the western edge of this square. The pavement this side is at a much higher level and there is a staircase immediately in front of us, allowing pedestrians to cross the road.
