A childhood memory for anyone at St Lawrence's primary school in the 1960s and 1970s. To get to swimming lessons at Dinham, pupils had to walk, braving the massed dog turds of Camp Lane and Silkmill Lane. The various sections of this narrow street were soon named D.S.L 1, 2 and 3. Sadly the tradition has continued, only there are far more bits of tarmac available to step on than in 1972. Also there are no white ones anymore.
