This Post Office saw the era of the tramway system, which ran either side of the building and in fact around the whole block. The front entrance doorway was originally below the green post office sign. Next door, in the '60s, was G Ainsbury, Hardware Dealer. Where the bush is, at the top of the road, was and still is, a Doctor's Surgery. Pickmere Road, which runs to the right of the Post Office, had a tram depot which opened in 1919 and closed on 5th May 1957.
