The Lidl supermarket was opened in the autumn of 2008 and replaces a garden centre which formerly occupied the site on the east side of Knaresborough. 2021 update. Lidl has now moved a short distance to a newly constructed larger store on the former Co-op supermarket site off Chain Lane. The York Road site currently awaits redevelopment.
