A surprise in one of the squares in the centre of Leeds, is a small petanque court, complete with this group which demonstrates a good technique at the game. There is also a noticeboard with rules and guidelines for those who are not familiar with the game. Or you could just play it to the rules of crown green bowls, a more familiar game around here. The equipment is kept in the sandwich shop in the background. The sculptor is Roger Burnett, born in Northowram and with a studio in Sowerby Bridge.
