Lichen grew everywhere on this short tree with amazingly twisting branches, high on the hillside. Don't believe survival experts who say that if you have no compass you can look at lichen on trees to judge direction. In this woodland there were trees with lichen only on the East face of their trunks, others had it on the West side. This tree (and others too) had lichen all round it.
