The Grand Junction Canal from Brentford to Braunston was authorised by Act of Parliament in 1793. This milepost has "G.J.Co" for "Grand Junction Canal Company" at the top. It later linked up with other canals to become the Grand Union Canal from London to Birmingham, with various branches. For view of its surroundings see Image
