The Ice Rink in Westover Road closed down on 6 January 1991. However, this frontage remains as a defiant reminder, and there have been many campaigns to reopen it, or provide similar facilities elsewhere. The popularity of temporary ice rinks, set up at the Bournemouth International Centre over the festive period the last few years, has heightened these campaigns.
