The two red-brick buildings in the centre once housed Eversley School, a preparatory school for boys, founded in the last years of the 19th century. Since the school's relatively recent closure, the premises have been tastefully converted into private residences: http://www.barefootgilles.com/portfolio-eversley-school-1.asp Where, once upon a time, boys as young as 7 years old boarded term by term and experienced that particular form of loneliness called homesickness, now - hopefully - entire families of parents and children live happy and fulfilled lives together. In front of the buildings is part of Southwold Common, a large grassed area that includes facilities for football, rugby, golf and tennis as well as simply running, walking, strolling etc.
