The dedication of Throckmorton church is unknown. The church is unusual in that the central tower has no transepts. The church dates from the 13th century though it was heavily restored in the 1880s. In 1980, whilst undertaking excavations to damp-proof the nave, foundations of an earlier stone church were discovered.
