Keys to the Past web Site: White Lodge is a lodge building; it has used a number of stone types in construction. Each stone type has been used sensitively with regard to what the original builders could do; the rough whin stone was used for the coursed rubble walls, the easily shaped sandstone was used for the quoins and slate for the roof. The building has been largely white-washed with lime from a lime kiln. This is of the early 19th century.
