Looking north-east from Hadrians Wall National Trail which runs 135 km from Bowness-on-Solway to Wallsend http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/hadrianswall/ Just beyond the wall is the post-Roman Military Road, B6318 Chollerford to Greenhead road which here runs along the line of the Roman Wall. The ditch between the road and the trail is part of the Vallum, a series of earthworks to the south of the Wall.
