Stanford village is in the county of Northampton but diocese of Leicester (the River Avon, which flows immediately west of the church, being the county boundary, so that Stanford Hall lies in Leicestershire). The original Saxon building was replaced by a Norman one, itself rebuilt in the 14th century in local ironstone. In this view a Virgin hot-air balloon looms in the background.
