Only recently opened as a new station for a large housing area, Brinnington station was built to a standard design used in several other places in Greater Manchester in the mid-1970s. The "lean-to" on the left was, I think, a cycle store, but it didn't last long. For a 1989 comparative view, see: http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/827994.
