Viewed from the footpath on the western side of the River Adur. The land was once an inlet which stretched across to the outskirts of modern day Lancing until silting up in the 14th and 15th century. After that the area was inned and farmed until 1911 when a new aerodrome was opened on the site. The terminal building was added in 1935 and is still in use today.
