Although the barracks have long since been demolished this building, now sadly boarded up and surrounded by Heras fencing, bears witness to their former presence. It does not appear on the Tithe map of 1841 but is present on the Ordnance Survey edition of 1888, and would have been built to provide a centre for reading and indoor games for the inhabitants of the barracks. The low cloud base on a dank October afternoon provides the perfect setting...
