Thames Valley Police Information
Thames Valley Police is the largest non-metropolitan police force in England and Wales. We police the counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, and serve a diverse population of more than two million, plus six million visitors who come to Thames Valley each year. We patrol 196 miles of motorway - more than any other British police force. The Thames Valley Police force area is divided into 12 Local Policing Areas (LPAs). Hungerford and Lambourn District Neighbourhood
Every neighbourhood in Thames Valley has a dedicated Neighbourhood Policing team.
Neighbourhood Policing teams can be contacted via 101, the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number. Always call 999 in an emergency.
Neighbourhood Policing teams…- Are led by senior police officers and include police community support officers (PCSOs), often together with volunteer police officers, volunteers and partners.
- May serve one or several neighbourhoods.
- Work with local people and partners to identify, tackle and prevent local, low-level crime, anti-social behaviour, and any ongoing concerns.
- Provide you with a visible, accessible and accountable police service and aim to make your neighbourhood safer.
- Have been present in every Thames Valley neighbourhood since 1 April 2008.
- Focus all of their efforts on their dedicated neighbourhoods, building relationships with local people.
- Needs you to tell us about the issues that concern you in your area.
- Has transformed policing at a local level, to meet the needs of local communities.
- Is known as ‘Safer Neighbourhoods’ in Milton Keynes.
From the start of 2010, Thames Valley Police extended its neighbourhood consultation by introducing a wider range of publicised opportunities to meet neighbourhood teams.
We will provide open monthly meetings to allow the public to influence our priorities. These meetings will be branded as Have Your Say opportunities, and in many cases will be held in conjunction with partners.
View Have Your Say summary and flowchart (PDF 40 Kb - opens new window)Once local priorities have been identified, a broader ‘toolkit’ of problem-solving tactics is being made available to ensure crime and anti-social behaviour is tackled effectively.
Across the Thames Valley area, there are many successful Neighbourhood Action Groups which will continue to deliver local problem solving, but the introduction of Have Your Say meetings will allow neighbourhood teams to identify more quickly those specific local priorities that need attention.
Thames Valley Police views the introduction of Have Your Say meetings as a positive step in tackling issues that matter most to the public. I welcome your support and engagement in this endeavour.

The Neighbourhood Inspector has overall responsibility for the entire neighbourhood policing team of Sergeants, Police Constables, PCSOs and police staff. | 23 Oct 2025 | Local residents have raised concerns regarding the frequency of these incidents. The Neighbourhood Policing Team is actively monitoring the situation and will continue to conduct targeted patrols and enforcement activity to address the issue. Response (23 Nov 2025)The Neighbourhood Policing Team is working in close partnership with relevant agencies to pursue multiple closure orders on properties identified as being linked to drug-related activity. In response to community concerns, patrols have also been increased in key locations that have emerged as focal points for this issue. These actions form part of a coordinated strategy to disrupt criminal behaviour and enhance public safety. |
| 23 Oct 2025 | There continues to be a concerning prevalence of rural crime in the area, notably hare coursing and fish poaching. Hare coursing activity remains ongoing across local farmland, while incidents of illegal fishing have been reported along the River Lambourn. These offences pose a significant threat to wildlife, landowner security, and the integrity of the local environment. Response (23 Nov 2025)The Neighbourhood Policing Team are actively patrolling areas affected by rural crime, including locations in and around Welford. Targeted police operations will be deployed to identify and apprehend offenders involved in hare coursing and fish poaching. In addition, crime prevention advice will be provided to local residents and landowners to support target hardening measures and reduce vulnerability to these offences. |
| 23 Oct 2025 | The Neighbourhood Policing Team has received multiple reports from members of the public regarding suspected drug-related activity in the vicinity of Market Place, Lambourn. Concerns raised include individuals loitering in the area, frequent short-stay vehicle visits, and behaviour consistent with street-level drug dealing. Response (23 Nov 2025)Officers are actively monitoring the area in response to reports of suspected drug-related activity and are conducting ongoing investigations to gather information and identify those involved. The Neighbourhood Policing Team will continue to carry out targeted patrols and implement enforcement measures aimed at disrupting criminal behaviour, reassuring the public, and addressing the concerns raised by the local community. These efforts form part of a broader strategy to improve safety and uphold the quality of life for residents in the affected area. |
| 14 Jan 2026 | The Community has expressed concerns around drug dealing in and around the area of Fairview Road and surrounding areas in Hungerford - Local residents have raised concerns regarding drugs dealing and the issues that surround the activities. The team actively monitoring the situation and will continue to conduct targeted patrols and enforcement activity to address the issue. Response (14 Jan 2026)Continued Patrols of the area, both visible and covert. Targeted Operations planned in the foreseeable future. The team will gather intelligence to help target our patrols and targeted activity towards suspected offenders. |

| 14 Jan 2026 | There has been an increase in concern around Rogue Traders and scammers in the Lambourn area, particularly in the area of Ermin Street. - Residents have raised concern that there has been an increase in cold callers and Rouge Traders. Worries that the vulnerable are being targeted and scammed. Response (14 Jan 2026)This Priority has been added to the Patrol Plan and the PCSO will be proactively engaging with local residents to provide help and advice around Scams, as well as actively pursuing reported incidents. |
| 1 Apr 2026 | The Community has expressed concerns around drug dealing and anti-social use of vehicles in the Hungerford High Street and surrounding areas. | 1 Apr 2026 | Due to the season, there has been a noticeable increase in fish Poaching on the River Kennet, especially in Upper Eddington, Lower Denford and the War Memorial in Hungerford. The poaching is being carried out by individuals who do not have fishing licence or a permit to fish on the river. Response (1 Apr 2026)The Neighbourhood Policing Team are actively patrolling areas affected. Fish Poaching incidents have been more prevalent, and are expected to continue throughout Spring. Officers have met with local river keepers and fishing clubs to pass on reporting advice and safety advice. There are a number of Operations and engagement events planned over the coming months to tackle this ongoing issue. |

We have been out on foot walking in some of the affected areas to tackle the issue and provide reassurance. We have also tasked overnight patrols in the area by response crews when the NHPT are not on duty. |

The team are actively monitoring the situation and will continue to conduct targeted patrols and enforcement activity to address the issue. Response (1 Aug 2026)The neighbourhood team are continuing to patrol the area, both overtly and also using covert assets. Officers have also been actively disrupting criminal behaviour and targeting known individuals causing ASB through drug and vehicle use. Since this issue was identified the team have completed a drugs warrant on an address and successfully closed the property down. We continue to patrol the areas looking for drug dealers and problem vehicles. |

We are continuing to patrol the areas in marked vehicles and on foot in the hope to put off opportunistic people looking to commit crime.
