Thames Valley Police Information
Thames Valley Police is the largest non-metropolitan police force in England and Wales. We police the counties of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, and serve a diverse population of more than two million, plus six million visitors who come to Thames Valley each year. We patrol 196 miles of motorway - more than any other British police force. The Thames Valley Police force area is divided into 12 Local Policing Areas (LPAs). Bucklebury and Downlands Neighbourhood
Every neighbourhood in Thames Valley has a dedicated Neighbourhood Policing team.
Neighbourhood Policing teams can be contacted via 101, the Thames Valley Police non-emergency number. Always call 999 in an emergency.
Neighbourhood Policing teams…- Are led by senior police officers and include police community support officers (PCSOs), often together with volunteer police officers, volunteers and partners.
- May serve one or several neighbourhoods.
- Work with local people and partners to identify, tackle and prevent local, low-level crime, anti-social behaviour, and any ongoing concerns.
- Provide you with a visible, accessible and accountable police service and aim to make your neighbourhood safer.
- Have been present in every Thames Valley neighbourhood since 1 April 2008.
- Focus all of their efforts on their dedicated neighbourhoods, building relationships with local people.
- Needs you to tell us about the issues that concern you in your area.
- Has transformed policing at a local level, to meet the needs of local communities.
- Is known as ‘Safer Neighbourhoods’ in Milton Keynes.
From the start of 2010, Thames Valley Police extended its neighbourhood consultation by introducing a wider range of publicised opportunities to meet neighbourhood teams.
We will provide open monthly meetings to allow the public to influence our priorities. These meetings will be branded as Have Your Say opportunities, and in many cases will be held in conjunction with partners.
View Have Your Say summary and flowchart (PDF 40 Kb - opens new window)Once local priorities have been identified, a broader ‘toolkit’ of problem-solving tactics is being made available to ensure crime and anti-social behaviour is tackled effectively.
Across the Thames Valley area, there are many successful Neighbourhood Action Groups which will continue to deliver local problem solving, but the introduction of Have Your Say meetings will allow neighbourhood teams to identify more quickly those specific local priorities that need attention.
Thames Valley Police views the introduction of Have Your Say meetings as a positive step in tackling issues that matter most to the public. I welcome your support and engagement in this endeavour.

The Neighbourhood Inspector has overall responsibility for the entire neighbourhood policing team of Sergeants, Police Constables, PCSOs and police staff. | 20 Oct 2025 | Offenders are targeting fields in the area, often accessing them via High Street and other rural routes. The use of these fields by offenders causes damage to crops. Targeted enforcement and enhanced visibility will be prioritised to address recurring issues and support community safety. |
| 23 Oct 2025 | In this location, the Neighbourhood Policing Team has observed a rise in anti-social behaviour, including deliberate damage to play equipment at the local nursery. These incidents are causing concern within the community and are being treated seriously. Response (23 Nov 2025)Officers are actively investigating and increasing patrols in the area to deter further offences and identify those responsible. Engagement with local stakeholders is ongoing to support preventative measures and safeguard community assets. |
| 23 Oct 2025 | The team have identified ongoing concerns relating to suspected drug-related activity in the vicinity of Holly Lane, Bucklebury. Information gathered through community reports and proactive policing has highlighted this location as a potential hotspot for illegal drug distribution. Response (23 Nov 2025)In response to emerging concerns, officers and PCSOs have significantly increased patrols in the affected area and are working in close collaboration with other team to identify offenders and investigate criminal activity in this area. The aim is to safeguarding residents, reduce harm, and enhance community resilience against drug-related activity. |
| 14 Jan 2026 | The team will focus on Rural Crime, such as Rural Burglary and Machine Theft, between Hermitage and Bucklebury, and the surrounding Marlston Road. - Offenders are targeting the area, often using the A34 as access to village and other rural routes. Offenders are targeting out building and barns, and stealing machinery and tools. Response (14 Jan 2026)Targeted enforcement and enhanced visibility will be prioritised to address recurring issues and support community safety. |
| 14 Jan 2026 | There has been an increase in concern around Rogue Traders and scammers in the Cold Ash area, in the residential roads leading off Cold Ash Hill. - Residents have raised concern that there has been an increase in cold callers and Rouge Traders. Worries that the vulnerable are being targeted and scammed. Response (14 Jan 2026)This Priority has been added to the Patrol Plan and the PCSO will be proactively engaging with local residents to provide help and advice around Scams, as well as actively pursuing reported incidents. |

Response (14 Jan 2026)In response to emerging concerns, officers and PCSOs will be increasing patrols in the affected area and dealing with offending robustly. |
| 1 Apr 2026 | Due to the season, there has been a noticeable increase in fish Poaching on the River Kennet, especially in Upper Eddington, Lower Denford and the War Memorial in Hungerford. The poaching is being carried out by individuals who do not have fishing licence or a permit to fish on the river. Response (1 Apr 2026)Officers have met with local river keepers and fishing clubs to pass on reporting advice and safety advice. There are a number of Ops and engagement events planned over the coming months to tackle this ongoing issue. |

| 29 Jun 2026 | Due to the season, there has been a noticeable increase in fish Poaching on the River Kennet, especially in Upper Eddington, Lower Denford and the War Memorial in Hungerford. The poaching is being carried out by individuals who do not have fishing licence or a permit to fish on the river. Response (29 Jun 2026)Officers have continued to carry out Poaching Ops at well known Hotspots and engaged with local River Keepers in relation to the issue. |

| 1 Jul 2026 | Off Road Bikes have been causing ongoing issues in and around Cold Ash and Hermitage, particularly on Lang Lane and Hermitage Road. Response (1 Jul 2026)Officers and PCSO’s are continuing to patrol the areas at prime times such as early evening. They have also been actively engaging with the community and local residents to identify the vehicles in question and the owners, to issue seizure warnings, and in repeated cases, seizing the vehicles. |

Response (1 Aug 2026)Officers and PCSO’s are continuing to patrol the areas at prime times such as early evening. They have also been actively engaging with the community and local residents to identify the vehicles in question and the owners, to issue seizure warnings, and in repeated cases, seizing the vehicles. Since this priority has come to light we have seized 2 motorcycles due to causing ASB within the area and we will continue to complete high visibility patrols to deter and inform others. |
