Anti-social behaviour (ASB)

Swiftly responding to incidents of ASB and effectively using policing powers available to intervene - including powers of dispersal where the actions of individuals or groups impact their wider surroundings; which can lead to wider harm, including the misuse of public spaces or buildings, criminal damage or vandalism, for example graffiti or damage to public buildings.

Working with partners and youth organisations, including schools and colleges to identify opportunities for early intervention with individuals at risk of causing ASB.

Addressing and taking action against ASB in the form of nuisance noise, such as noisy cars or motorbikes.

Officers for Sovereign Harbour continue to receive reports of ASB driving in car park areas of the Harbour, including down into Atlantic Drive up to San Diego Way.

To address your reports, officers have committed to continued patrols in hotspot reported areas, in the last 4 weeks of July over 20 foot patrols have taken place with officers looking to identify those involved, these includes night time patrols at peak reporting times for ASB driving, with officers stationed up in unmarked cars in the Crumbles car park.

Local officers have also scheduled in meetings in the area where residents can report and hear directly from patrolling officers on what actions are being taken, as well as committing to further night time activities as previously conducted.

Officers have also been conducting high visibility patrols around the harbour and front following reports of ASB and break ins to boats in the Quay, with patrols extending into the late evening as times reported by residents as a problem time for anti-social behaviour.

Youth related crime and disorder (e.g. youth related ASB, large groups or threatening behaviours)

We continue to receive reports of youth related crime and disorder including ASB around areas of Sovereign Harbour, as a result patrols of the area continue with an average of two patrols per shift in areas of reported ASB.

Local officers have identified areas from community reports, to address concerns we will be speaking to local businesses in the area on how together we can deter youngsters from gaining access to areas behind the shops, as well as looking at ways to encourage youngsters to other activities on offer in the area such as clubs or sports groups/events.

Responding to, and taking action to deter and identify those involved in ASB driving, including incidents of excess speeding and vehicle related nuisance in communities.

•Additional patrols at peak times of reported ASB associated with vehicles meeting, or congregating in the area, with officers actively engaging with those causing a nuisance.

•Section 59 warnings for ASB driving have been issued to a number of vehicle owners spoken to by police in the last few months.

The whole of the 'Crumbles' car park is now monitored by private Automatic Number Plate Reading ( ANPR ) cameras which will stop the noisy vehicles congregating when the shops are shut.

•Officers continue working alongside youth officers, partners and youth organisations, including schools and colleges to identify opportunities for early intervention with individuals at risk of causing ASB in the area.
