Drug Harm Reduction.

Targeting drug related crime in your town through intelligence, enforcement and partnership work.

Police led operations, targeting known areas of drug use and drug dealing, as well as partnership work around known addresses causing drug harm in your area.

ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN SEPTEMBER – NOVEMBER

Patrols around your ward continues, with officers paying passing attention to areas of both ASB and drug use, to deter and identify those involved.

ACTIONS TAKEN PREVIOUSLY JUNE – AUGUST

Over the last few months, a number of hours have been spent on patrol with both officers and partners to identify areas of concern.

Reports from communities around drug dealing around Devonshire Theatre Quarters, patrols have been increased in this area, with two arrests made in the last few months for drug related offences.

Anti-social behaviour (ASB)

Swiftly responding to incidents of ASB and effectively using policing powers available to intervene - including powers of dispersal where the actions of individuals or groups impact their wider surroundings; which can lead to wider harm, including the misuse of public spaces or buildings, criminal damage or vandalism, for example graffiti or damage to public buildings.

Working with partners and youth organisations, including schools and colleges to identify opportunities for early intervention with individuals at risk of causing ASB.

Addressing and taking action against ASB in the form of nuisance noise, such as noisy cars or motorbikes.

ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN SEPTEMBER – NOVEMBER

Ongoing work with local authorities to address concerns of rough sleeping.

Work alongside partners to offer reassurances to residents in the form of additional patrols at peak times to address community concerns around potential drug use linked to ASB, as well as weeks of action planned in the coming months as part of a National week of action to tackle ASB later this year.

Further meetings penned in for residents to meet their ward officer, including those at the 3 monthly Meads community panel meetings.

ACTIONS TAKEN PREVIOUSLY JUNE – AUGUST

We continue to receive reports from local residents around ASB associated with rough sleepers and members of the street community.

Police continue working closely with local councils with options available to teams, to look to remove tents at rear of Pier and on Wish Tower as reported by local residents.

We also continue supporting our homeless communities to help them get the relevant support as well as working with council and housing teams to look into housing options.

Operation Downsway.

Our yearly campaign to address community concerns around road and driving related offences that fall into the fatal 5 driving offences.

Including targeted patrols, education and enforcement activities across the district throughout the Summer months, focused on targeting excess speed in areas of Meads, including Beachy Head area, as well as targeting distracted driving, and drink/drug driving.

Continued work with partners, local authorities, including volunteer Community Speed Watch Groups to support activities and keep the roads of your towns and villages safe for all road users.

ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN SEPTEMBER – NOVEMBER

Officers for Meads continue to commit to additional patrols in the coming months, both on foot and in vehicles in areas of reported ASB driving, or in areas requiring road safety checks.

Further partnership road safety checks are being planned for the coming months, including checks alongside volunteers from your Meads Community SpeedWatch Groups (CSW)

ACTIONS TAKEN PREVIOUSLY JUNE – AUGUST

In the last 3 months over 45 TORs (traffic offence reports) tickets have been issued to drivers as a result of both NPT and RPU enforcement patrols in areas in an around Beachy Head as well as areas of Upper Dukes Drive as reported by communities.

Throughout the Summer months local officers for Meads have also supported Community Speedwatch with their checks on the junction with Bolsover Road.

Anti-social driving (e.g. speeding, nuisance or noisy vehicles, cycles or e-scooters on the pavement)

Responding and taking action to tackle road and driving related offences that fall under the fatal 5, including excess speeding, mobile phone use, as well as tackling anti-social driving.

•Officers for Meads continue to commit to additional patrols and targeted police operations in areas of reported ASB driving, including areas of King Edwards Parade and the roads across Beachy Head.

•Future partnership road safety checks to be planned, including checks alongside volunteers from your Meads Community SpeedWatch Groups (CSW).
