Anti-social behaviour (ASB)

Swiftly responding to incidents of ASB and effectively using policing powers available to intervene - including powers of dispersal where the actions of individuals or groups impact their wider surroundings; which can lead to wider harm, including the misuse of public spaces or buildings, criminal damage or vandalism, for example graffiti or damage to public buildings.

Working with partners and youth organisations, including schools and colleges to identify opportunities for early intervention with individuals at risk of causing ASB.

Addressing and taking action against ASB in the form of nuisance noise, such as noisy cars or motorbikes.

ASB continues to be a priority in your ward, with officers committed to continued patrols across the area to deter ASB and identify those involved.

Hotspot areas and targeted patrols include areas Landport Park, down into the estate, and up through the Pells area as reported areas of regular ASB. These patrols have seen officers engage with a large number of youngsters over the summer holidays whilst on patrols (end of July through August), with the vast majority of patrols being on foot.

Officers for Lewes have also attended a number of events throughout the summer, including family days and fetes where officers have been able to update residents directly on the work being conducted in the town to tackle ASB in your, as well as hear first hand from locals about their concerns and highlight areas of ASB to assist officers in their patrol locations to ensure together we are providing a police presence in areas which have seen an increase in ASB.
