Uttoxeter Town Neighbourhood

Uttoxeter is a fine traditional English market town, proud of its links with agriculture. Although the weekly animal sales are history, many families still earn their living from the land.

The town was the place were Lichfield born Dr Samuel Johnson, author of the first proper dictionary, staged a celebrated penance and stood out in the rain for refusing to help out at his father’s bookstall. A monument to the event still stands in Uttoxeter’s Market Square.

Priorities

31 May 2025

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) including shoplifting and the anti-social use of vehicles.

Response (27 Jun 2025)

Over the next three months, we will be looking to identify repeat calls of ASB between neighbouring locations, and look to apply a partnership approach with the local authority and housing agencies to tackle those issues. We also have powers such as Community Protection Warnings/Notices which can be used.
The main concerns of shoplifting arise from the town centre retail park and we will be increasing our presence at that location to take positive action around those offenders we identify as responsible.

Drug misuse.

30 Nov 2025
