Blurton and Longton West Neighbourhood
Blurton, and Newstead consists mainly of large social housing estates, large areas of which are being redeveloped to improve facilities and conditions for the residents.
The area had fallen into decline following the closure of local coal mines, but with the development of the neighbouring TrenthamLakes industrial site, things are again improving.
There is a good community spirit and in addition to three junior schools and a high school, the area also has its own small shopping precinct.
The Newstead trading estate is a busy industrial area and provides a lot of work for local people.
The Hollybush area is near to Longton Town Centre and the A50 trunk road which links Stoke-on-Trent with the East Midlands.
