Priorities

3 Jan 2024

Residents of Harwin Road have expressed concerns that there are some vulnerable residents that are being exploited, having their flats misused by drug users and this is having a wider impact on general ASB around the location. This is likely linked to the drug dealing issue we face elsewhere on the beat listed within our other priority.

Response (3 Jan 2024)

Officers have reviewed reports associated with this beat priority. We have planned consultations to speak with residents at the location to really understand the cause of the problem and are working with partner agencies to see the most appropriate way to tackle this problem robustly.

3 Jan 2024

We have been told about an increase in shop theft from Tesco, Ethel Road and other anti-social behaviour around people begging outside the location and the public are feeling intimidated when utilising the store and cash point.

Response (3 Jan 2024)

Your beat team have worked tirelessly since receiving these reports and have successfully identified all persistent offenders of the shop thefts. We have charged all four of them with a combined 17 offences, one is currently imprisoned and we have applied for court orders preventing the others attending the targeted location.

3 Jan 2024

From utilising data from our crime recording systems we have recognised an increase in theft from motor vehicles around Wicklow Drive, Ambassador Road and Goodwood Road.

Response (3 Jan 2024)

Your beat team will be providing crime prevention advice at local beat surgeries advertised on our force website and neighbourhood link systems regarding this specific problem, as well as using effective patrol plans and technology to prevent these offences and prosecute offenders. There will also be letters sent to residents with vehicles more persistently targeted.
