Anti-Social Behaviour.
The local beat team will be focusing on Anti-Social Behaviour, working alongside partner agencies to tackle the issues. Updates will be provided via the City Centre Facebook page and the Leicestershire police website.

Response (28 Mar 2024)

January update: Patrols have been ongoing in areas where ASB and misuse of public places have been reported. Patch walks have been conducted in two key locations over the month of January with the council and other partner agencies to seek resolutions to reduce and prevent further incidents. Support leaflets and posters have also been shared for persons to access if needed. February update; The team have continued to show a high visibility presence in locations which have been identified as ASB hot spots on the beat. Partner agencies have been engaged with and are working with us to resolve these issues. We have targeted persistent and repeat offenders who are causing the most harm to our community to safeguard the wider public. As always, support leaflets and posters have been shared for persons to access if needed. March update; The beat team continue to take a proactive and visible approach to ASB on the beat. Partner agencies are businesses are working with the Police to resolve these issues and by targeting those persistent and repeat offenders we are reducing the impact they are having on our community. Specific Operations have been ran within the City targeting ASB issues such as E-scooters on the pavement which have been successful. As always the team continue to offer safeguarding to our community and the wider public.

Theft from Motor Vehicle.
Officers have received numerous reports of persons returning to their vehicles to find that items from their vehicles have been removed.

Officers will be visiting hotspot areas namely open air car parks offering advice to those both using and operating car parks promoting how to prevent becoming a victim of theft and how to make their car parks more secure.

January update: PCSO’s have been conducting early morning patrols at our car parks moving on people congregating in the stairways and engaging with staff promoting security. Patrols have also been conducted throughout the car parks and members of the public advised and educated on vehicle security. February update; PCSO’s Zed and Mark have continued to conduct early morning patrols at car parks throughout the City Centre. This is shared on Facebook the locations which have been visited. They have continued to engage with staff promoting security at locations and moving on people congregating within stairwells. Members of the public are also advised and educated on vehicle security which has seen a decrease in the number of reported incidents. March update; The early morning patrols by PCSO’s Zed and Mark have continued into March which is having a significant impact on the number of people congregating within stairwells at these locations. This in conjunction with advising members of public on vehicle security has had an impact on the number of reported thefts from Motor Vehicles.

Burglary dwelling/non dwelling.

The local beat team will be focusing on the reduction of burglary dwellings and non dwelling. Updates will be provided via the City Centre, Facebook page and the Leicestershire police website.

January update: Officers and PCSO’s have been attending business’ and residential blocks conducting patrols and providing security advice to owners, residents and building managers. A series of burglaries have been investigated and resulted In the beat team identifying and arresting a male who was charged for a number of burglary offences. February update; Officers and PCSO’s have continued working with business’ and residential blocks providing security advice to owners and residents. Issues with insecure properties have been addressed and rectified. Following on the results of January with a male being arrested on suspicion of a number of burglary offences there has been a decrease this month, however the beat remain vigilant in preventing further offences. March update; The beat have remained consistently vigilant and taking a proactive approach to burglaries. We continue to work with businesses and owners of insecure properties offering safety and security advice.

Drug taking and drug supply.
Leicestershire Police, has received a number of complaints regarding drug use and drug supply. The local beat team will be making this their priority by conducting patrols at key location and utilising police powers to develop intelligence to help tackle this issue.

January update: A number of warrants have been executed by the City centre priority team and cultural quarter team officers over the month of January. These resulted in a number of arrests and a quantity of drugs and cash seized with ongoing investigations. The beat team have also been working with partner agencies to identify and safeguard vulnerable individuals who are at risk of criminal exploitation and support with addiction. February Update; Officers from the Cultural Quarter Beat Team and City Centre Priority Team have continued to execute a number of warrants resulting in large quantities of drugs and cash being seized. The beat team, working with partner agencies, have offered on going safeguarding for the communities and vulnerable individuals involved who are risk of criminal exploitation and supporting them with addiction. March update; March saw a week of action taken in regards to County Lines and drug supply within the City Centre. As a result a large number of drugs, money and property was recovered. The beat team continues to work with partner agencies to support those most vulnerable in our community who are at risk of criminal exploitation and supporting them.
