Nuisance youths.

We have been carrying out targeted patrols in areas where antisocial behaviour has been reported. We are working with the Child Centred Policing Team to identify the people involved. When needed, we use our antisocial behaviour powers to deal with any problems. We are also working closely with Medway Housing to help manage ongoing issues and support the community.

Nuisance vehicles.

We have used our Section 34 dispersal powers when needed to tackle this issue. A Section 34 dispersal order allows officers to ask people causing or likely to cause antisocial behaviour to leave the area for a set amount of time. If they return, they can be arrested.

Officers have dealt with offences and issued Traffic Offence Reports (TORs). A TOR is a report we give to someone who has broken a traffic law. It means the offence will be looked at and can lead to a fine, points on a driving licence, or a court summons.

We have also been working with the Traffic Team, special constables, and other departments to increase high?visibility patrols in the area.

Shoplifting.

We have been working closely with local shops to identify the people responsible for shoplifting and to arrest them when needed. This helps make sure they are held to account for their actions. We also work with partner agencies to support regular offenders and guide them away from shoplifting. This helps reduce problems in the long term.

Officers have been carrying out both high visibility patrols and plain clothes patrols to spot issues quickly and keep businesses and the community safe.

Highway obstructions.

We have increased patrols in parts of Strood where parking issues have been raised with us at local police surgeries. Officers are taking action where needed, including asking vehicles to move on. We are also working closely with the council on highway‑related issues, sharing information about problem areas. In addition, we have arranged a joint operation with civil enforcement officers to focus on the locations residents have highlighted.

E-scooters/e-bikes.

We took part in a targeted operation to tackle the illegal use of e‑scooters and e‑bikes. As part of this work, officers seized a number of e‑scooters and e‑bikes, with dedicated enforcement activity carried out in Strood.

Drug dealing and drug taking.

We have been acting on information shared by the public, which has led to more stop and searches in the Strood area, with positive results. During this work, officers found more than 60 grams of amphetamine during a stop search, and a woman was arrested and later released on bail. Around two hours later, this activity also led to the arrest of another woman on suspicion of being involved in drug supply. She was also released on bail while enquiries continue.

The Community Safety Unit is running operations across Medway to tackle unsafe and illegal use, seizing vehicles where necessary.

Enforcement is focused in areas such as Strood High Street, where a zero‑tolerance approach is in place. This means all offences are dealt with, with regular seizures of e‑scooters and e‑bikes.
