Anti-social Behaviour across the Ward, including youth related ASB, vehicle related ASB & begging.

Throughout the different seasons, we experiences spikes of anti-social behaviour in several locations across the Yarborough ward.

Each report comes with different solutions, such as Rapid Deployment Cameras, Community Protection Warnings or an increased Police presence alleviating resident’s concerns.

Over a four week period at the start of 2025, the ward experienced a significant increase for reports of ASB around the Grimsby leisure centre, ice rink and adjacent golf centre. This resulted in 25 home visits to youths involved whereby parents were spoken to ASB warning letters were issued. As a result, reports of ASB have significantly reduced.

Over recent months we have experienced an increase in nuisance motorbikes on the ward area, particularly in the Laceby Acres area as the bikes make their way to and from the fields at the rear of Morrisons. We have had dedicated operation Yellowfin days of action where we have had success in seizing bikes and issuing traffic offence reports to riders.

As we are now currently experiencing a slight increase in ASB due to Hallowe'en, Mischievous Night and bonfire night, we will continue with a high visibility presence across the ward particularly in out ASB hot-spot locations.

Your local team will continue to monitor reports and areas of increased reports and will respond by completing Humber talking surveys to establish the extent of issues before tailoring a bespoke solution that we anticipate will be most effective.

We recognising the significant impact that repeated thefts and disruptive incidents have on our local retail stores, their staff and the wider community. These offences place pressure on businesses, affect staff wellbeing and can influence how safe people feel when shopping.

To address this, we are strengthening our work with retailers to help prevent crime and improve safety. We will maintain regularly contact with stores, providing crime prevention and support staff with reporting and responding to incidents. By building strong relationships and sharing information with retail stores and security teams we can better identify repeat offenders and focus patrols where they are most needed. Through this partnership approach we aim to reduce crime, support our retailers and create safer more confident communities.

Anti social behaviour across the ward, including youth related ASB and vehicle related ASB.

As we approach the summer holidays along with the continued good weather we anticipate a spike in anti-social behaviour across the ward area. Reports indicate that incidents occur throughout the community, with reoccurring issues including large groups congregating in public spaces, vandalism, littering, occasional intimidation and nuisance motor vehicles.

We will be targeting our ASB hot-spot areas with high visibility patrols, targeted action and multi-agency working with our partners including council, housing, local businesses and our ward councillors. Our ongoing efforts focus on prevention, education and partnership working to ensure that ASB is effectively managed and that the area remains a safe and attractive place to live, work and visit.

We will maintain regular contact with stores, providing crime prevention advice and support staff with reporting and responding to incidents. By building strong relationships and sharing information with retail stores and security teams we can better identify repeat offenders and focus patrols where they are most needed. Through this partnership approach we aim to reduce crime, support our retailers and create safer more confident communities.

With recent legislation changes we have adapted our approach to targeting our most prolific shop theft offenders and have recently issued a criminal behaviour order (C.B.O) to one particular individual who was targeting stores on our ward area. We will be actively pursuing our highest harm retail offenders and progressing more C.B.O applications. This, coupled with the continued regular engagement we have already within our stores will hopefully reduce shop theft and increase confidence.
