Police patrols for general anti-social behaviour over the Halloween / Bonfire night period.

Response (3 Oct 2025)

We are aiming to reduce calls for service and incidents of anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the area. Regular patrols will be conducted across Pocklington and officers will use local knowledge and local schools to identify those involved.

Where youths are identified causing or being involved in ASB, we will look to take positive action against them. Where appropriate, we shall work with our partner agencies to divert offenders from committing anti-social behaviour.

Road Safety and Speeding is a concern to the local community

We aim to tackle this concern with speed checks in the area. We will also use our Special Constabulary to assist when available and local Community Speedwatch volunteers to monitor traffic.

Officers will act on information given to the police by members of the public. We will take positive action such as conducting warrants and Stop Searches when it is lawful to do so. We will bring offenders to court alongside referrals to support agencies for substance misusers.

Officers continue to conduct speed checks in the area to tackle these concerns. We have and will issue education, warnings and enforcement to offending vehicles. We have visited some local rural areas to do speed checks with the pro-laser and we will also be looking at working with ERYC to consider further potential traffic calming measures Special Constables also support our efforts in addressing these issues, along with volunteers in the local Community Speedwatch groups who also monitor traffic.

Into the Summer months, there is a distinct increase in Antisocial behaviour generally due to better weather conditions / lighter nights.
Reports are receive may include youths on pedal cycles riding recklessly and causing issues. There are also new reports being made with regards to illegal electric bikes and scooters being used in the area.

Officers will endeavour to continue high visibility patrols in hotspot areas, identifying those involved where possible and dealing appropriately through the ASB pathway, working with partner agencies and local businesses to address ASB and deal with any offences.
