Drugs Use and Dealing – Ongoing Priority

Response (4 Jun 2024)

We continue to review and develop intelligence around drugs misuse and supply within Driffield and surrounding areas. We have actively targeted vehicles and carry out a number of stop searches on individuals that have produced positive results.

We continue to work with licenced premises carrying out visits and incorporating the use of pub watch and banning notices to target individuals linked to drug misuse. Using a passive drugs dog twice over the last month has yielded some positive results and been welcomed by the local community.

We ask that you continue to report concerns around drug misuse / dealing at the time.

Nuisance bicycle riding and non-use of lights

Response (4 Feb 2025)

It has been brought to our attention at the January Town Council meeting that there have been issues with teenagers riding their bicycles in the town centre whilst pulling wheelies.

This presents a danger to themselves, members of the public and drivers. It is also alleged that teenagers are riding their bikes in the dark with no lights. Teenagers continue to be stopped and challenged when seen acting in an anti-social manner.

A bike marking event was held during December 2024 where free bike lights were also handed out to promote bike safety.

A further event is planned for 27th February 2025 and will be promoted on Social Media.

Local officers will also be visiting local newsagents when young people begin their paper rounds to hand out free bike lights and promote bike safety whilst dark mornings still exist through winter.
