There are ongoing issues in respect of heavy good vehicles contravening the 7.5t weight limit within the Broughton area mainly using the through road of Ermine Street, Appleby Lane and the High Street. This issue remains a priority for the community through the key individual network within the area, NAT meetings and Humber talking data. Speed enforcement within the main through roads of Broughton and Scawby also remains a priority.

Latest actions - The following actions have been completed this far within the locality -

Weight restriction checks have been conducted throughout the main areas of concern within Broughton this includes Ermine Street, Appleby Lane and High Street however is not limited to these roads due to the whole of the area being incorporated into the 7.5t weight limit zone.

Once drivers have been identified as contravening the 7.5t weight limit for the area due to using it as a throughfare they have been stopped and issued with a traffic offence report. Several companies have been identified as repeat offenders and education surrounding this has been given directly to the companies to look at educating the drivers around their specified routes.

Through our enquiries there has been certain periods of the day which have been identified as having a larger volume of heavy good vehicles contravening so our targeted patrols have been looked at to target this period of the day to best educate and enforce.
