I am looking forward to meeting those who I have not met on my patrols yet, and for those who are familiar with me, I am looking forward to continue working with you.
Hello,
My Name is Natalie, I am a Police Community Support Officer for the beat ‘Charles Dickens, Portsmouth’. I work and patrol in the areas of Portsea, Buckland, and Landport, will be assisting and supporting the local Designated Neighbourhood Officers (DNO’s). I have been employed with Hampshire and Isle Of Wight Constabulary since February 2022 and have only covered the Portsmouth area in this time so far.
My day to day role includes foot/cycling patrols covering the local beat areas as well as deployments from the control room that require an immediate response. I am also tasked via my line manager to attend reports that are made via 101 and online.
At present Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) is generally an incident that I attend to most. It can be that it has been reported via 101/online channels and this has been assigned to me or I am patrolling to ensure it is not ongoing, or is happening in real time. I work closely with partner agencies such as Portsmouth City Council to deter, intervene and problem solve.
I also along with my fellow PCSO officers and DNO’s hold beat surgeries, these are held at various locations across the beat area to listen to your concerns and praises. You may have seen us in local supermarkets and community centres holding these. It’s really lovely to see you all and get to know neighbourhood community in our local areas. It can be a struggle to ensure the public are aware of these events/meetings, these are generally communicated via posters at the place we will hold the event and on our social media Facebook pages. (Portsmouth Police.) You can also get updates on Hampshire Alert https://www.hampshirealert.co.uk/ This is a messaging service which enables you to be informed of issues relevant to your area.
I also attend the local schools once a term or more if we can. We aim to educate pupils assisted by teaching staff about crime or give general advice. Recently, I have been into schools at break and lunchtimes in the outside areas of the school to engage with students, this I hope promotes a friendly approach and gives the students chance to chat and get to know us.
I look forward to seeing you all out and about in the community, please give me a wave or come and chat with me!
