James Bowler (Sergeant)

I have worked for Derbyshire Constabulary for over 17 years

During this time, I began my service as a Response Officer in the Derbyshire Dales and then, a Safer Neighbourhood PC for Ashbourne, and then, was one of the first officers on what was then, the newly formed Rural Crime Team.

I was promoted as a Sgt to a response Team covering Amber Valley and then became a Safer Neighbourhood Sgt for the Alfreton and South Normanton areas.

I have a real passion for Neighbourhood Policing. Neighbourhoods is a core part of policing where you get to see a real difference being made within a local community. I am committed and focused to driving my team to deliver for the local people in terms of robustly tackling ASB, being there to problem solve and put an end to those problems that can carry on if left unaddressed.

I am also the supervisor for the Amber Valley Youth Engagement Team. The team primarily focus on building good relationships with young people from delivering school inputs to working on effective interventions with those that are most susceptible to crime and exploitation. The Immediate Justice programmes have delivered some fantastic results in terms of steering juveniles committing ASB, away from the criminal justice system. They are then able to make some meaningful reparation for victims of crime and ASB as well as learning new skills and understanding how their actions can have consequences not just for them, but their families and the wider community. The YET are a key part in delivering this across Amber VALLEY.

I work closely with a range of partners in order to ensure that we can achieve our vision of continuing to make Alfreton and South Normanton a safer place for all.

+
