Long Eaton South Neighbourhood

This Safer Neighbourhood area covers Long Eaton south areas. It belongs to the Long Eaton policing section. On the area's southern boundary lies Sawley, a suburb of the town of Long Eaton, which lies between the two cities of Derby and Nottingham. The Long Eaton South Safer Neighbourhood area covers the two halves of the village - Old Sawley, which is the old village area, and New Sawley, which is mainly made up of a modern residential area called the Dales Estate. The area also cover a huge industrial estate which is known as Acton Road and Trent Lock which is the joining point for several canals and rivers.

Charlotte Pigott (Inspector)

I’m Inspector Charlotte Pigott and I am responsible for policing in Erewash. I began my career in Swadlincote as a Special Constable for two years before joining as a Police Constable in 2016 at Derby West at Peartree Police Station. Over my ten years of service, I’ve covered all of South Division and worked on response policing as well as investigations. My career has all been in uniformed policing, including being a trained public order officer. I first began at Erewash as a Constable and then progressed through the ranks to Sergeant and Inspector whilst working here. Since then, I have worked as both a Reactive and Local Policing Unit Inspector in the city before returning to Erewash in September 2025. My focus has always been on making the area a safer place for everyone.

For the last 20 years I have worked at Ilkeston, as a Police Community Support Officer and now as the PCSO Supervisor covering Erewash Safer Neighbourhood Team.

As a PCSO Supervisor I believe it is really important that my team put communities at the centre of what we do. I am responsible for the leadership of the PCSO’s across Erewash based at two stations at Ilkeston and Long Eaton.

It is expected that my staff work hard to deal with neighbourhood problems and to protect the vulnerable. It is vital that we are visible and have good working relationships with our partner agencies to make Erewash a safer place to live, work and visit.
