PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Universal Credit (9 October 2018)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what assessment she has made of the adequacy of access to universal support in areas without Citizens Advice services after April 2019.

Asked by:
Marsha De Cordova (Labour)

Answer

As part of our new partnership announced earlier this month, Citizens Advice and Citizens Advice Scotland will help claimants with making and managing their claims, and will help to identify whether any other support is needed. This partnership will ensure our claimants get the best possible support to claim Universal Credit.

Until March 2019, Citizens Advice will be developing their support alongside the support currently offered by local authorities. The Department will work with Citizens Advice and Citizens Advice Scotland between now and April to ensure that Universal Support is accessible across the country, and is ready to deliver a consistent and reliable service from 1 April 2019.
