Care Workers: Zero Hours Contracts (2 July 2018)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what estimate he has made of the number of social care staff who are on a zero hours contract.

Answer

Through their National Minimum Data set, Skills for Care collect data on the number of adult social care workers in England on zero-hours contracts.

As at 2016/17 around a quarter (325,000) of the adult social care workforce were on zero-hour contracts.
