To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, how many Eurofighter Typhoons his Department plans to purchase; and how many of those fighters are Tranche (a) 1, (b) 2 and (c) 3 variants.

The Ministry of Defence has contracted for 160 Typhoon aircraft in three tranches:
Tranche 1-53
Tranche 2-67
Tranche 3-40
