Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what assessment his Department has made of the effect on (a) patient safety and (b) the long term recovery of patients of the recent changes in service provision at the Adult Eating Disorder Service at South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust.

Answer

Ensuring patient safety in mental health services is a key priority for the Department. NHS England is working closely with South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust’s Eating Disorder service to assess the potential impacts of recent proposed changes in service provision. NHS England will ensure that the proposed changes meet service specifications, adhere to National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidance and continue to offer an effective, safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
