PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Armed Forces: Dogs (8 March 2018)
Question Asked
Asked by:
Jamie Stone (Liberal Democrat)
Answer
Military Working Dogs (MWD) provide an invaluable service to our troops, and every effort is made to rehome them at the end of their service life. The Ministry of Defence's approach to rehoming is in accordance with the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes Code of Practice and is consistent with that taken by high profile, well respected animal charities.
Decisions are taken following an extensive assessment of the dogs and any potential new home. We seek to maximise the number that can be rehomed, including through work with animal charities and external behavioural experts.
