F-35 Aircraft (4 December 2017)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, what steps his Department is taking to ensure that the UK has a sufficient number of pilots to operate its F-35 jets; and if he will make a statement.

Answer

The Royal Air Force and Royal Navy have a sufficient number of trained pilots to operate F35 Lightning II. The first UK F35 pilot completed training in February 2013 and they continue to train ahead of 617 Squadron standing up in the summer 2018.
