PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Surrogacy: Lone Parents (13 November 2017)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what plans the Government has to lay before Parliament an urgent remedial order to allow single parents to apply for a parental order following surrogacy.

Asked by:
Dame Siobhain McDonagh (Labour)

Answer

The Government has made a commitment to bring forward a remedial order to allow a single person to apply for a parental order following a surrogacy arrangement and this will be delivered.

We expect to lay a non-urgent order in the House shortly, for scrutiny by the Joint Committee for Human Rights and Parliament.
