PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Syria: Reconstruction (22 October 2017)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for International Development, what role the Government has in (a) assessing the level of reconstruction of homes, physical infrastructure and administrative systems required in Syria and (b) carrying out that reconstruction.

Asked by:
Alison McGovern (Labour)

Answer

While the conflict is ongoing, our priority is to deliver life-saving humanitarian aid to those affected. The UK will only provide support for reconstruction once a credible, genuine and inclusive political transition is firmly underway. It is not possible at present to accurately assess the costs of reconstruction.
