PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Air Pollution (19 October 2017)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what the allocation criteria to local authorities for the revised air quality plan will be.

Asked by:
Rachael Maskell (Labour)

Answer

£255 million has been allocated as an implementation fund to assist local authorities in carrying out feasibility studies and delivering their local plans. These will focus on supporting the development and implementation of measures to deliver compliance in the shortest possible time. The Government will assess these local plans to ensure they are effective, fair, good value and deliver the necessary air quality compliance.

Legally binding directions require the 23 local authorities identified for the first time in the plan to produce initial plans by 31 March 2018 with final plans by 31 December 2018.
