Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Justice, what the overall budget has been for each prison operated by (a) HM Prison Service and (b) each prison operator in each year since 2010.

Answer

Her Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS), formerly known as the National Offender Management Service, routinely publishes direct and overall resource expenditure for each private and public sector prison in England and Wales on an annual basis after the end of each financial year. The information can be accessed on the www.gov.uk website at the following link:

The data for the last financial year 2016-17 has not yet been finalised, and is expected to be published on 26 October 2017.
