Public Expenditure: Scotland (28 June 2017)

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland, what discussions he has had with the Prime Minister on the agreement between the Government and the Democratic Unionist Party; and what assessment he has made of the potential benefits to Scotland as a result of that agreement.

I have regular discussions with the Prime Minister and Cabinet colleagues on matters of importance to Scotland and the UK.

This agreement will enable us to work together in the interest of the whole United Kingdom, give us the certainty we require as we embark on our departure from the European Union, and help us build a stronger and fairer society at home.

Scotland and Wales will continue to receive direct investment from the UK Government to support growth. Since 2014, the UK Government has committed over £1bn of investment in Scotland and Wales through City Deals, and the government is committed to further City Deals in both nations. As you are aware, funding for City Deals is provided in addition to the block grant and does not attract Barnett consequentials for other parts of the UK.
