To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, how many people received income tax exemption for personal tax credits in (a) 2014-15, (b) 2015-16 and (c) 2016-17.

Answer
Personal tax credits are not taxable. All those benefiting from tax credits awards in each of the years requested will have been exempt from income tax on these payments.

Finalised statistics for 2016-17 will be published in due course.
