Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what discussions she has had with the Secretary of State for Justice on proposed changes to cost protections for environmental claims; and what assessment she has made of the effect of those changes on environmental (a) justice and the UK's compliance with the Aarhus Convention and (b) standards.

Answer

The Ministry of Justice leads on the policy and assessments on changes to cost protections for environmental claims. My Ministerial colleagues and I have had no discussions with my Rt. Hon. Friend, the Secretary of State for Justice, Elizabeth Truss, on proposed changes to cost protections for environmental claims.
