Teachers: Labour Turnover (13 December 2016)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Education, what the retention rate is for newly qualified teachers who were recorded in service between November 2014 and November 2015; and how many such teachers entered service in that time period.

Answer

There were 24,200 newly qualified teachers (that qualified during the 2014 calendar year) who were in service in a state funded school in England by November 2014. Of these, 87% were still in post one year later in November 2015.
