Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what estimate she has made of the potential effect of climate change on the future contribution of the agriculture industry to the UK economy.

Asked by:
Chris Elmore (Labour)

Answer

Defra publishes a Climate Change Risk Assessment (CCRA) every 5 years which assesses the risks and opportunities for the UK arising from climate change (including agriculture). The first CCRA report was published in 2012. The next CCRA Government Report will be laid before Parliament no later than January 2017. The underpinning evidence report for the second CCRA was published by the Adaptation Sub-Committee of the Committee on Climate Change in July.
